First Grade at Trinity is taught by Mrs. Debbie Hammes.  Mrs. Hammes' husband also teaches at Trinity and they are members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

"School is one of my favorite places! I've loved it since I was in kindergarten and I want my students to love it, too. Teaching children to read and seeing the sparkle in their eyes when they 'get it' is amazing. I love helping them learn new things about the world around them. Sharing God's loving plan for our salvation with them on a daily basis is truly a privilege. My confirmation verse, John 15:5, is about staying connected to Jesus. I am honored to be in a position to help children and their families make and strengthen that connection."  - Debbie Hammes

2nd Grade

Ms. Lisa Haak teaches our 2nd graders.

"My confirmation verse is Psalm 55: 22 'Cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.'  I find this verse helpful when the going gets tough in the classroom.  My favorite time of day is when I get to pull out my guitar and we sing praises to God. I enjoy working with my children as they make connections. You can see the lightbulb goes on and they say, 'Oh this is easy!' One of my traditions in the classroom is teaching about the presidents. Older children will come back into my room and ask what president we are on. They still sing the song that puts them in order. I'm told it even helps when the students get into high school history."  - Lisa Haak

Mrs. Carol Ball is our 4th grade teacher at Trinity.  Mrs. Ball graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.  She received her coloquy certificate and became a called teacher in 1997.  This is her 26th year in Lutheran education.  Mrs. Ball also worked in the Westmont public school system for several years as a librarian.  She has educated children at Trinity since 1987 and has been the directory of the library for 15 years.  Mrs. Ball and her husband are also members of Trinity Lutheran Church.

"My inspirational quote is my favorite Bible verse: Revelation 2:10 'Be thou faithful unto death and I will give you a crown of life.' This is my confirmation verse. I have wanted to teach in a Lutheran school since I was in 2nd grade. My 2nd grade teacher inspired me. I want to teach, so I can share the love of Jesus, encourage my students to share that love, and let them know about their own 'crown of life.' When I hear a child say 'I learned ------ today' or 'I didn't know that' I feel I've accomplished something."  Carol Ball

"My name is Neil Hammes. I teach 5-8 Science and Computers, 7-8 Social Studies,
6 Religion, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra. My Confirmation verse is 'Have I not
commanded you? Be strong and of a good courage. Be not afraid neither be
dismayed for the LORD, your God, is with you wherever you go.' Joshua 1:9. I
teach my students the lessons I learned from my Confirmation verse. I teach
them to be strong, calm, self confident, and never fearful because the creator
of the universe is on their side. Most of my students respect me and enjoy my
classes. I respect them and enjoy being with them also."
