|Neil Hammes, Vice Principal; 7th and 8th Homeroom Grade Teacher|
I was born in Torrance, California but raised in Milwaukee, WI. I attended Lutheran throughout elementary school and high school. I graduated from Concordia College in River Forest, IL with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and later received master’s degrees from the same college in curriculum and instruction and school administration. I have been teaching in Lutheran schools since 1980. First, I taught in St. Louis city then St. Louis County. In 1987 I received a call to teach at Apostle’s Lutheran School in Melrose Park, IL and also taught at St. John’s Lutheran School in Chicago before coming to Trinity in 1991. I’ve been a coach, athletic director, and was principal for ten years. I prefer teaching the junior high students. They are often frustrating but also intelligent and thoughtful. I can have meaningful conversation with them. My wife, Debbie, and I raised two intelligent and loving children, Sara and Wesley who are married and living in Downers Grove, IL and Cincinnati, OH.
